Optimising until you find the perfect curve fits the strategy to the past. It falls apart in the first live month, and nothing in the report said it would.
Kara puts each strategy through the tests quants use: out of sample, walk-forward, cross-validation, Monte Carlo, cost sensitivity, against chance. The verdict says which criterion holds and which fails, and optimisation keeps the centre of the largest plateau, never the peak.

What Kara does differently
- The verdict does not stop at a grade: each criterion has its light and its sentence, and the red one tells you what to fix.
- Guards belong to the account, not to the code: a strategy cannot exceed the daily loss or drawdown you set.
- Simulation is free; only optimisation and the assistant are paid in compute tokens, or run free on your own servers.
- Replays are reproducible: the same version always gives the same result on the same data.
- Platforms

Do I need to know how to code?
No. The block builder and the Kara AI assistant cover most strategies; TypeScript code stays available for everything else.
Is backtesting free?
Yes: simulations and analyses are free on Kara's servers, in a shared queue. Optimisation and the assistant are paid in compute tokens, except on your own servers.
How do I avoid overfitting?
By reading the verdict criterion by criterion: out of sample, walk-forward, probability of overfitting, parameter robustness, cost sensitivity and comparison with chance. Optimisation keeps the centre of the largest plateau, not the best peak.
Which accounts can a strategy trade on?
